on the scene, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, we are here yes in northeast baltimore and as you can see behind me here, firefighters are still on the scene of this early morning fire. we have learned that five people have died in the fire. two firefighters were also injured. we have four children that died and one adult. the call came out about 2:00 this morning. crews responded here to 5601 denwood avenue and found the row home engulfed in intense flames. right now, i have chief kevin cartwright with the baltimore city fire department joining me live here. you know, chief, just -- a very sad scene this morning. four children, tell me a little bit about what happened this morning. >> yeah, this is something we never look forward to. but just after 2:00 this morning, our firefighters arrived on location to a very dramatic scene involving an intense fire with heavy fire load and smoke conditions coming from a two story brick home. we also noted that there was one adult man actually jumping from the second floor window in an effort to escape these intense flames and heat. our firefight
